Comer En Alqueria

The title “Comer En Alqueria” means eat at Alqueria. The Spanish cuisine called to us as we surveyed the new restaurants in the Mega Fashion Hall.  So we ended up eating in “Alqueria” (Alqueria Restaurante  Y Chocolateria) which is a Spanish restaurant. Alqueria actually means a small rural community formed by a few houses.  I had lunch there with one of my best friends from High School.

We tried three dishes. The first dish was a soup to warm our stomachs while waiting for our Paella. We ordered the “Fabada Asturiana” at 158php which is a bean soup with some pork mixed in it. I loved that the broth was thick and rich. It was also very tasty. I would rate the dish an 8.5 out of 10.

The next dish we ordered is called “Pescado En Salsa Verde” (328php) which is stuffed white fish, clams and mussels in a white sauce.  It was also good but I felt that the sauce had too much garlic.  I would rate this dish a 7 out of 10.

And last but not the least is one of their signature dishes, the “Paella Queso Manchego” (398php)  This paella is cooked  with Manchego cheese on top with chorizos. This cheese complimented the rice. The rice was cooked just right. I like the burnt part of the paella. I would rate this dish an 8 out of 10.

Overall,  we were satisfied with the dishes. There are other classic Spanish dishes to try. So  I think we will come back and sample the others.  We actually wanted to try their churros but we had to rush to go to the movies.  So for some Spanish cravings, you may try Alqueria.
