Learning How To Cook

I’ve always put this in the things that I need to do, learn how to cook but somehow it always gets pushed back. Priority is key! And since I’m friends with one of the up and coming chefs in the Philippines, I decided to take advantage of that and ask him to teach me how to cook. 🙂

Chef Ruther, my friend taught me how to cook two dishes.

First Dish: Baked Chicken

And to my surprise it is super simple to cook it.

Ingredients: Chicken Thighs (or whichever part you prefer), black pepper, cayenne pepper and salt.

First step is to clean the chicken (wash and take out the hairs in the skin if there’s any) then let it soak in brine for a good 20 minutes. You have to pre-heat the oven already.

Second step, pat the chicken dry with paper towel (make sure the skin is dry) then put salt on top and the bottom to make it crispy. Then put the spices that you want, in our case we put black pepper and cayenne pepper to have that kick of spicy!

Then put it in the oven and let it bake for 45 minutes and voila! We have a baked chicken!

Finished Product: Baked Chicken

Second Dish: Kimchi Soup

Ingredients: Kimchi (small bottle), White Onion, Green Onion Leaves, 1 pack of soft Tofu, Chicken Thigh, 1 cup Bean Sprouts, Fish Sauce and Sesame Oil.

First step after preparing the ingredients/chopping the onions, tofu and the chicken is to heat the cooking pot (for soup dishes) and put the cooking oil. Then put the chopped white onions and stir it.

Next is to cook the chicken strips together with the onion until it absorbs the liquid. Add a dash of fish sauce to the chicken. After the chicken is almost done, you can put a bowl of water, then let it boil. After the water boils, you can already put the kimchi in. After it boils, put in the tofu. After another boil, put in the bean sprouts.

After another boil put in the garnish onion leaves and the sesame oil. And voila!
